Yes, you could say this about basically every movie year. But 2011 featured the most sequel releases ever: 28. Nine of the top-10-grossing films fit this category. Most were awful. Perhaps it's time to stop this oversaturation when even a reliable studio such as Pixar puts out the mediocre "Cars 2."

"Cars" was previously Pixar's worst. But no one thought the studio behind movies like "Ratatouille" and the "Toy Story" franchise could sink this low. Let's all just agree that Larry the Cable Guy, or the tow truck version of him, shouldn't anchor a movie, ever, and move on.
